Rooted in the energy of fall—a season of release and transition, this retreat invites you to explore the theme of letting go. Together, we will gently reflect on what you may be carrying and what you are ready to release, much like the leaves naturally falling from the trees.

A tree-loving expressive artist, dancer, crystal energy worker, and therapist. For over 50 years, she’s guided others through nature and movement to reconnect with their inner healing light

The Gateway to the Bigelows

Getting to Stratton Brook Hut requires a moderate ascent of just over 600ft of elevation. Visitors should be prepared for a hearty workout on the way up and a fun descent on the way down.

Visiting Stratton Brook Hut

Our eco-lodge is open during our winter season (late December through mid March) for day visitors and cozy overnight stays. Throughout the rest of the year, Stratton Brook Hut is open for lunch, and it also hosts several special events that you can read more about on our page.

During our summer season, hike or bike up to the hut on select weekends to enjoy a freshly prepared lunch, refill a water bottle, or just relax in one of our lounge chairs.

During the winter season, day visitors on Saturdays and Sundays can enjoy delicious soups, sandwiches, sweets, and hot and cold beverages from 12-2PM. Overnight winter guests can choose full-service trips on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays (all meals included and optional gear shuttles) or self-service trips (no gear shuttles and you bring your own food) on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

Staying at Stratton Brook Hut

When you visit Stratton Brook Hut, you will stay in comfort. The hut has hot water, heat, indoor plumbing, a full commercial kitchen, cozy great room, private bunkrooms and electricity. Bunkrooms are kept at temperatures around 55°F during winter and we ask that lights be turned off whenever you leave a room. Be prepared for limited access to power outlets, though there is cellphone service. We put a heavy focus on conservation of resources.

All rooms at the huts in winter are booked as private accommodations, with 10 bunkrooms available at Stratton Brook Hut. We do not book shared rooms with other groups.

Please bring a pair of shoes or heavy socks to wear inside when you take off your trail shoes and boots. Removing outside shoes helps us keep the hut clean and ready all our guests.

Getting Here

Guests of Stratton Brook Hut are rewarded for their ascent with some of the best views on our trail network. The offers the shortest route up via Newton’s Revenge Trail, while the via Crommett’s Overlook Trail offers a scenic and less steep option. Guests using the in winter should leave from the Airport Trailhead.

All huts are accessible by our trail network by using people-powered modes of transportation like biking, hiking, skiing, fat biking or snowshoeing. We have put together a list of driving to the closest trailhead for each hut and the to get you the rest of the way.

1. When is the retreat?

October 10–11, 2026 

This is a one-night, two-day retreat designed to offer spaciousness, rest, and meaningful connection.

2. Where is the retreat located?

The retreat will be held at Stratton Brook Hut in Carrabassett Valley, Maine.

3. Who is this retreat for?

This retreat is open to adults 18 years and older. No prior experience in yoga, meditation, or creative expression is needed—all practices are thoughtfully guided and accessible to a wide range of bodies, backgrounds, and comfort levels.

4. What is included in the price?

Your retreat investment includes locally sourced, healthy, and nourishing meals whenever possible, thoughtfully prepared to support your body and nervous system throughout the weekend:

  • Dinner, dessert, nourishing snacks, and breakfast

  • Coffee and tea available throughout your stay

  • Lodging at Stratton Brook Hut

  • All retreat programming and guided activities

  • A thoughtfully curated gift bag and retreat journal to support reflection and integration

5. What is the cost of the retreat?

Stratton Brook Hut is accessed via a 3-mile hike with elevation gain. This hike is a beautiful opportunity to

nature bathe—taking in the sounds, sights, and scents of the forest as you move mindfully toward the hut.

Along the way, you’ll be surrounded by serene, expansive mountain views, including views of Sugarloaf Mountain, and the rich colors of Maine’s fall foliage. The beauty continues at the hut, offering a peaceful, grounding setting to arrive and settle in.

A gear shuttle will be available to transport your belongings to the hut so you can hike comfortably with just what you need for the journey.

Detailed information about parking, the hike, and how the gear shuttle works will be provided closer to the retreat.

8. What should I pack?

A detailed packing list will be shared in advance. In general, you can expect to bring: - Comfortable clothing for yoga and movement - Warm layers for evenings and outdoor time- Hiking shoes or sturdy footwear -Personal toiletries- Any personal items that support your comfort and well-being

Journals and pens are provided and included in the cost, though you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

Because this is an off-the-grid experience, you’ll also want to plan accordingly for limited electricity and connectivity.

9. What will I leave with?

10. Is this retreat physically demanding?

The retreat is designed to be supportive and accessible. The hike into the hut is moderate, and all movement practices are adaptable. Please reach out if you have questions about physical considerations— we are happy to support you.

11. What if I have dietary needs or allergies?

Dietary needs and allergies are very important to us.

When you register, you will be asked to share any dietary needs, allergies, or sensitivities. We will use this information to make thoughtful accommodations whenever possible so you feel safe, nourished, and supported throughout the retreat.

12. What about cell service, Wi‐Fi, and unplugging?

This retreat offers a true opportunity to disconnect and be present. - Cell service is limited - There is no Wi‐Fi
- There are no charging or plug-in stations

In alignment with hut guidelines, cell phone use is not permitted in the main lodge. This helps preserve a peaceful, shared space and supports deeper connection—with yourself, others, and nature.

13. Are there showers and bathrooms?

Yes, showers and bathrooms are available. Please note that the hut operates off the grid, and the shower experience may be different from what you’re used to at home. More details will be shared closer to the retreat so you know exactly what to expect.

14. What if the weather changes?

The retreat will take place regardless of weather, and programming will continue as planned.

While weather does not impact the retreat itself, appropriate clothing will greatly affect your comfort. Dressing in layers and planning for outdoor conditions will help you fully enjoy the experience.

If weather conditions require it, the fire ceremony will be held indoors, ensuring a safe, warm, and meaningful gathering.

15. How do I register?

Registration will take place directly on the website.

Space will be limited to maintain an intimate and supportive container.

17. How Does my gear to the hut ?

Arrival

  • Our shuttle will transport your gear to and from the hut.

Departure

Please have your belongings out of the bunks by 10:30 AM and depart no later than noon. Remember to include trash, food packed in, returnables, and recyclables in your departure plans.

Activities will continue throughout the remainder of the day in the main lodge, offering a cozy, supportive space to gather, rest, and connect before the event comes to a close.
